Prologue

FATUM, DAUTHI, BERAN

Fatum, or as known to others, Faith and sometimes, Destiny, watched the lazy traffic as she slothfully sat on the sidewalk. The moon was unusually bright and the nature hummed with an eery stillness, no silent chitchats from the faeries tonight, she thought. Earlier that day, Fatum felt the precipitous jolt of the world under her feet and that made her racing her way here.

Her facial expression grew taut under the flickering light of the sturdy post."Stop flickering!" She snapped at the innocent lamp post and as if the inanimate object could understand her, it stopped flickering. However the sporadic light it was giving stopped altogether. "Why, thank you so much."

She muttered grimly as she continued perusing the highway. She was waiting for it to happen, whatever it was. She was supposed to be lounging in the Caribbean under the sun with the white shimmery sands beneath her bikini-clad body instead of taking a pew in the dark here in Texas.

Dauthi got her this time, she thought to herself grimly. Dauthi, or as how mortals named her, Death or the Reaper, is the deity of the after life. That sister of hers had always been the illogical one, always doing absurd things to show her defiance to the Ultimate Mother.

My eyes fluttered open but a run down, ready-to-fall ceiling welcomed my vision making me disoriented. Studying my surrounding, I noticed the battered wooden stool beside to what I presumed was the bed, which also where I was lying. From where I was, I could see everything, from the medieval looking fireplace to the lone circular wooden table then to the door. Overall it looked like a house.

With a groan from my protesting stiff muscles, I stood up and vaguely noticed that I was wearing a priggish nightgown, it was nothing like what I owned and as far as I could remember, I was wearing a white blouse and black tight skirt and was driving home from a corporate meeting.

Then the accident happened.
