BOOK REVIEW: CLAIMING THE SUCCUBUS |
Being a Succubus has its perks…until the hunter becomes the hunted. For half-breed succubus Ava Hawley, hunting supernatural foes is worth all the risks and rewards. But when a wolf shifter is responsible for kidnapping her sister, the mission becomes personal. Ava is ordered to track down the bad boy and turn him over to her boss. That is, until she meets the dangerously sexy shifter and realizes her charm—the kiss of death—is no match for the charms of her opponent. Alpha werewolf Killian Reid is on the run from a demon mistress, but someone else is on his tail—a stunning seductress with more sex appeal than any woman ought to have. And Killian can't resist her. Proving his innocence will be a challenge, but with every moment that he spends with her, Ava’s self-control weakens. And as their attraction grows, she knows she’ll have to rely on the shifter she'd been sent to capture, or they’ll both become victims to another predator… |
I got a free e-book copy in exchange of an honest review.
I have always liked werewolves and succubus so I was so excited when I read the blurb and this book was a combination of it. I had really high hopes and Lorien Lyn did not disappoint.
This book is action packed and hot; the chemistry between the two protagonists was very palpable it will leave you bothered. And they were a very interesting pair too! I was curious how the author would pull this off! Vampire x Werewolf we are used to that, almost sick of it… but Succubus x Werewolf, now that’s a concoction of pure awesomeness.
Ava is portrayed as a kick ass heroine but you couldn’t help but relate to her because her insecurities and fears are somehow true and relatable even to real life. Women do have those fears no matter how independent and strong they are.
Killian is a badass, alpha male, cocky and hot. So damn hot. But this character wasn’t ‘in your face’. Sometimes, when author try to make a badass male character, they make him such a jerk that it becomes frustrating even for the readers. Killian wasn’t like that. He is a sweet alpha male. *swoons *
Moreover, I loved her writing style the most. It wasn’t pretentious. I found it very free flowing and easy to read. I liked how her description was neat. I admire that. The plot is exciting though I wish there was something more explosive in it.
My only woe about this book is that it is too short. I hope Ava and Killian had more time to develop the romance, made the chase of hearts hotter. It felt like it was rushed or something like that. It kind of dampened the experience but I would still give this book a shining 4 star rating. It really deserved it.
